£11M Mega City Adult Playground Opens in Slough

A brand-new entertainment complex dubbed 'Mega City' is set to open in Slough, Berkshire, just 40 minutes from Central London via the Elizabeth Line. With over 100 arcade machines, a giant laser tag arena, and countless karaoke rooms, this £11 million venue promises to be an adult playground.

Location and Opening Hours

Located at 233/249 High Street, an eight-minute walk from the Elizabeth Line station, Mega City opens its doors on June 30. The venue will operate late into the night: from 10am to 2:30am on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 10am to 1:30am the rest of the week. It aims to attract not only families but also those seeking date nights, friend gatherings, or work socials.

Features and Activities

The 55,000-square-foot space spans three floors and two mezzanine levels, packed with attractions including:

Payment System

Mega City operates a fully cashless system. Visitors purchase credit at kiosks to receive a play card, which can be tapped on machines to authorize use and track points for prizes. For pre-booked group activities like bowling or laser tag, a QR code is provided for automatic activation upon scanning. Prices include £5 per game of bowling, £7.50 per hour for karaoke, laser tag starting at £9.50, and 55 minutes of darts for £40.

Community Impact

The opening comes as a boost to Slough, which has faced negative perceptions. In December 2024, Rightmove named it the UK's most miserable place to live. Locals have described it as an 'island of despair' and the 'armpit of Berkshire,' despite its fame as the hometown of David Brent from The Office. Mega City is part of the town's regeneration efforts to increase footfall and pride.
