Drummer slammed for 'weird' comment on Olivia Rodrigo's all-female festival
Drummer slammed for comment on Olivia Rodrigo's festival

Jacob Tomsky, the drummer for Cigarettes After Sex, has been ridiculed after commenting on social media that he would not be performing at Olivia Rodrigo's upcoming all-female festival, despite likely never receiving an invitation.

Drummer's comment sparks backlash

The 47-year-old musician wrote under a video of the 'Drop Dead' singer: 'We won't be there lol tf,' in a since-deleted comment. When asked what he meant, he replied: 'I mean, it feels like some forced promo for a festival, right? I'm just saying our band won't be performing there.'

Fans were baffled by the assertion, as the American dream pop group consists of three men, and the festival lineup is exclusively female. One user on X asked: 'The festival being only for female artists my god, WHY comment that???' Another joked: 'Declining to go to a party you never received an invite to lmfao.' A third branded him 'weird,' while a stan account noted: 'Jacob answered no, but Olivia Rodrigo hadn't asked anything.'

Olivia Rodrigo's festival announcement

Olivia Rodrigo, 23, announced Daisy Chain Fields on Instagram, featuring an all-women lineup including Chappell Roan, Stevie Nicks, Garbage, Doechii, and Katseye. The festival takes place on August 29 in Irvine, California, with 100% of net proceeds donated to charities advancing women and girls. The poster includes a pin saying 'Bans off our bodies,' referencing abortion rights.

Rodrigo expressed her excitement: 'I've had a dream of doing this festival for years and I am so ecstatic its finally coming true!!' She called the lineup 'truly insane' and added: 'I firmly believe that joy, community, and music can be the drivers of meaningful change.'

The festival announcement comes weeks after Rodrigo released her third studio album, 'You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love,' which topped the UK album chart and marked the biggest opening week of her career.

Metro contacted a representative of Cigarettes After Sex for comment.
