Spider-Man 2 Gets Free Brand New Day Suit Ahead of Movie Release
Spider-Man 2 Gets Free Brand New Day Suit Before Movie

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is giving fans a reason to replay the PS5 game. Anyone who owns the Spider-Man 2 video game can look forward to getting a new free suit ahead of the Brand New Day movie in July.

In case you missed it, Sony and Marvel recently dropped one last trailer for their next movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled for July 31 and continues the adventures of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. The hype surrounding the movie is immense, with the previous trailer from March breaking GTA 6’s record as the most watched trailer in 24 hours.

Sony has also remembered that it has a fancy PlayStation 5 game all about Spider-Man currently available and, in a smart bit of cross-promotion, plans to add a new suit alongside the movie’s release. Simply dubbed the Fresh Start suit, it’s based on the one Spidey wears in Brand New Day; one he made himself and is devoid of any of the advanced technology his suits in previous movies had, now that he’s cut off from Tony Stark’s resources.

It’ll be added to both the PlayStation 5 and PC versions of Spider-Man 2 a couple of days before the movie on July 28 and joins a long line of other Spider-Man suits taken from other movies, including the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield ones.

Obviously, this makes for an excuse to revisit Spider-Man 2, although the release of a movie is likely to translate to a bump in game sales in general, as people are left wanting for more Spider-Man content. The movie itself is predicted to be a huge money maker for Sony and Marvel, which isn’t too surprising given the popularity of Spider-Man.

The Global Box Office X account, which tracks box office numbers, has said Brand New Day’s first 24 hours of pre-sales revenue has already surpassed every studio movie released in the US since the last Tom Holland Spidey film, No Way Home.

No exact figures were shared, but it’s reportedly yet to beat Taylor Swift: The Era Tour, which made $37 million (about £28 million) in pre-sales in its first 24 hours. Although Global Box Office also claims that demand for Brand New Day is so high in the US that movie theatres are facing capacity issues.

Brand New Day’s plot picks up after Peter had the entire world forget who he was in the previous movie, isolating himself from all his friends and his girlfriend MJ. Aside from needing to protect New York from a number of supervillains, such as Scorpion and a mysterious new foe that can possess peoples’ bodies, Peter’s own powers are evolving, with him gaining organic web shooters like Maguire’s Spider-Man.

The new trailer also confirms that Peter will fight the Hulk, who we’re guessing gets possessed by the new baddie, as he’s forced to turn to The Punisher for assistance.
