Eurostar trains cancelled after Rotterdam fire causes days of disruption
Eurostar cancels trains after Rotterdam fire

Several Eurostar services from London have been cancelled after a fire near Rotterdam Centraal station caused a power failure, disrupting services to the Netherlands until at least Friday, July 3, 2026. The fire at a substation led to a loss of power, affecting all rail services in and around Rotterdam.

Disruption Details

Eurostar said on its website: 'We're very sorry that, due to a fire near station Rotterdam Centraal, train services across the Netherlands are currently severely disrupted and extremely limited. As a result, our trains are subject to significant delays and cancellations, and we're unfortunately unable to offer alternative travel options.' The company added that the situation will continue until July 3, 2026, and recommended that passengers do not attempt to travel to or from the Netherlands until that date.

Impact on Passengers

Customers with affected journeys can exchange their booking for a different train for a fee, cancel completely and claim an e-voucher redeemable within 12 months of the original journey date, or cancel and receive a cash refund for the ticket value. Claims must be made within three months of the scheduled travel date. The area around Rotterdam Centraal is expected to have power restored on the evening of July 2, according to local media.
