British Tourist in Critical Condition After Balcony Plunge in Thailand
A British tourist is fighting for her life with severe injuries after falling from a hotel balcony in a popular Thai destination. Beth Klug, from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, had returned to her hotel room before plunging from the fourth-floor balcony in Pattaya during the early hours of March 15.
Severe Injuries and Emergency Response
The holidaymaker reportedly broke her back in 24 places after landing on a concrete plant box. Paramedics discovered her moaning in pain while lying on shrubs beside the 22-storey building. Beth was immediately transported to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Her friends in the UK are now urgently raising funds for her medical treatment and repatriation. A hotel security guard recounted the incident, stating, "While I was on duty, I heard a sound like a large object falling and hitting the bushes. I rushed to investigate and found a human body that had fallen and was crying for help. I then immediately notified the authorities."
Insurance Complications and Police Investigation
Local police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the accident. A police report is required for travel insurance companies to process claims. Beth's friend, Kim Lyall, explained, "Beth has insurance, but they need the police report before they start paying. The embassy has been involved in hurrying things up."
Lyall added, "She's in a lot of pain, as you can imagine. She can't move her arms at all. They shattered. So let's pray we get her home soon. She's still a young lass on her own in a foreign hospital, laid up in pain. People need to show some compassion."
Friends Issue Pleas for Support
Another friend, Anna Mohammed, who visited Beth in the hospital, also issued a heartfelt plea for assistance. Anna said, "We're trying to locate funds to get her home. Her back is broken in 24 places, she's unable to use her hands, she has severe injuries, she's in serious pain."

This tragic event follows another concerning incident involving British tourists in Thailand just a week prior. A British tourist died, and his girlfriend was hospitalized after their drinks were allegedly spiked in Bangkok.
Tom Pardhy, 38, a yoga teacher and music promoter from East London, suddenly passed away on March 6. His girlfriend, Naomi Raksha, 31, was rushed to the hospital in a tuk-tuk and required intubation to save her life. According to reports, Naomi's mother posted on Facebook that the couple were given spiked drinks in Bangkok.
Naomi's brother, Jonathan Raksha, has established a GoFundMe page to help cover her escalating medical and travel expenses. These back-to-back incidents highlight the potential dangers faced by tourists abroad and the urgent need for support systems during medical emergencies in foreign countries.
