EasyJet & Greggs Offer Free Sausage Rolls on Flights

EasyJet and Greggs Partner for Unique In-Flight Culinary Experience

In a surprising collaboration that merges aviation with British bakery culture, budget airline easyJet has announced a special partnership with Greggs to celebrate the opening of its new operational base at Newcastle International Airport. The highlight of this celebration is a complimentary trolley service featuring Greggs' iconic sausage rolls, available exclusively on international flights departing from Newcastle for a single day.

Limited-Time Offer with International Flair

The special service was available only on March 23, 2026, offering passengers flying from Newcastle a unique culinary experience at 30,000 feet. Alongside the beloved sausage rolls, easyJet introduced five limited-edition dipping sauces inspired by popular holiday destinations served by the airline from its new base.

Celebrating Newcastle's Aviation Expansion

Garry Wilson, easyJet holidays CEO, explained the reasoning behind this unusual partnership: 'We're thrilled to be launching a new base in Newcastle, driven by the strong demand for our flights and package holidays in the region. This is a major milestone for us, so partnering with Greggs, a true Geordie icon and one of the city's most famous exports, felt like the perfect way to celebrate our arrival.'

The new Newcastle base represents easyJet's 11th UK operational center, following recent expansions at London Southend Airport and Birmingham. The facility will host three aircraft offering 86 weekly flights to 22 destinations across Europe and North Africa, providing over 800,000 seats for summer getaways.

Ground-Based Celebrations for Newcastle Residents

For those not boarding flights on March 23, easyJet extended the celebration to Newcastle's city center from March 23 to March 25, offering local residents opportunities to sample the sausage rolls and dipping sauces. This ground-based activation allowed the airline to engage with the community while promoting its new routes from Newcastle International Airport.

The new routes launching from Newcastle include destinations such as Antalya, Corfu, Dalaman, Enfidha, Faro, Lisbon, Malta, Prague, Reus, Rhodes, Rome, Sharm-El-Sheikh, Nice and Tenerife, significantly expanding travel options for North East residents.

This innovative marketing initiative represents a creative approach to airline partnerships, combining regional pride with culinary innovation while highlighting easyJet's commitment to making travel from Newcastle both accessible and memorable for local passengers.
