Gordon Ramsay's emotional wedding speech 'made everybody cry'

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay delivered an emotional father-of-the-bride speech at his daughter's wedding that reportedly left the entire audience in tears, even as a painful family feud threatened to overshadow the joyous occasion.

A Speech That Moved the Room

Holly Ramsay, 25, married Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, 30, in a ceremony at the historic Bath Abbey on December 27, 2025. The lead-up to the wedding, however, was marked by significant drama, notably the reported absence of Adam Peaty's mother, Caroline, who was allegedly banned from attending.

In a new interview with his daughter Tilly on This Morning, Gordon Ramsay opened up about the poignant moment of giving his speech. The 59-year-old TV chef described the experience as "a tough gig," emphasising the need to be "warm" and "emotional."

"I mean, being a dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment," Ramsay said. "That moment arrives and, yeah, you're just like a hot mess. But the speech was perfect. It went well."

Tilly Ramsay, who helped her father prepare, confirmed the speech's powerful impact. "I was sat in his room for an hour as he was just reading through it," she recalled. "It made everybody cry."

References to Family Tensions

Reports from The Sun and the Daily Mail suggest that Ramsay's speech made direct, and some say pointed, references to the strained family dynamics. He reportedly told the newlyweds that his wife, Tana, "will be a good mum to them both."

He later added, while looking at his wife, "Look at Tana, and that's what you have to look forward to," before allegedly making a dig at Adam's parents by telling Holly, "Shame you don't have the same."

A family source told the Daily Mail that Caroline Peaty was "shocked" and found the public reference to their feud "outrageous and very hurtful." The source claimed, "By him saying Tana will be a good mum to them both makes Caroline sound like a bad mum. It was a cruel dig at her."

Fallout and Public Support

The rift between Adam Peaty and his mother is reported to have spilled over from Holly's hen do, from which Caroline was also absent. In statements to the press, Caroline expressed deep hurt, saying, "I'm not going to be hurt like this again" and that she felt Holly and Adam "have cut my heart out."

Adam's aunt, Louise, who was also reportedly not invited, sent a harsh text message wishing the couple would never "suffer the depth of pain" they had caused his mother.

Despite the private turmoil, Gordon Ramsay has publicly shown unwavering support for the newlyweds. On social media, he shared his pride, writing on Instagram: "I'm truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son in law Adam Peaty!"

He also commented on a tearful video posted by Adam, in which the swimmer vowed he would "always choose" Holly, writing: "Beautiful words... True Love ❤️ congratulations love you both so much Dad ❤️"

In a telling move since the wedding, Adam Peaty has changed his Instagram handle to Adam Ramsay Peaty, suggesting he has taken his wife's surname.
