The Guardian's Travel section is launching a new competition, calling on UK-based travellers to reveal their favourite hidden coastal gems across Europe.
Share Your Secret Beach for a Chance to Win
The publication is asking readers to submit tips about their most cherished lesser-known European beaches, excluding those in the UK. The focus is on idyllic spots away from the mainstream tourist trail—think secluded bays, quiet coves, and sandy stretches often missed by the crowds.
Participants need to describe where the beach is and, crucially, what makes it so special. Each entry should be around 100 words in length. While entrants can submit a relevant photo, the judging will be based solely on the written description.
Prize Details and Judging Process
The weekly winner, selected by Tom Hall of Lonely Planet, will receive a £200 voucher to be used with Coolstays, a company offering over 3,000 unique properties worldwide. The best tips will also be featured in the Guardian Travel section and on its website.
It is important to note that, for legal reasons, this competition is open only to UK residents aged 18 or over. Entries can be submitted anonymously if desired.
How and When to Enter
Entries must be submitted using the dedicated encrypted form provided by the Guardian. The competition deadline is 10am GMT on Monday 5 January 2026.
All personal data provided will be used solely for the purpose of this feature and will be deleted afterwards. Those interested can review past winning tips and the full terms and conditions on the Guardian's website.
