Croydon Restaurant Faces £70,000 Loss Following Triple Stabbing Incident

A Croydon restaurant has incurred a staggering £70,000 financial loss after a violent triple stabbing incident forced it to close during one of its busiest periods of the year. JRC Global Buffet, located in Valley Retail Park off Purley Way, has remained shuttered since the early hours of Sunday morning, February 15, when a 22-year-old man was fatally stabbed on the premises.

Violent Incident Disrupts Peak Business Season

The Metropolitan Police have cordoned off the entire retail park as they conduct a murder investigation into the tragic events. In addition to the fatal stabbing, two other men, both aged 21, were also stabbed during the incident. One of these victims sustained life-threatening injuries, adding to the severity of the attack.

Sang Tang, senior manager of JRC Global Buffet, expressed his shock at the violence occurring so close to his establishment. "It's shocking that someone has died right on our doorstep," Tang told reporters. "When you see these things happen on television, you acknowledge them, but it's especially not a nice feeling that it's happened here."

Significant Financial Impact During Critical Period

The timing of the closure has proven particularly devastating for the restaurant's finances. According to Tang, this period represents one of the busiest weekends of the year for JRC Global Buffet, with multiple celebrations converging simultaneously.

The restaurant typically experiences peak demand during:

  • School half-term holidays
  • Valentine's Day celebrations
  • Chinese New Year festivities

Tang revealed that the closure is costing the restaurant approximately £35,000 per night in lost revenue. "There are customers who have had their special occasions cancelled," he lamented. "It's not nice that they can't celebrate during what should have been one of our busiest weekends of the year."

Police Investigation and Arrests

Police were called to the retail park at 1:15 AM on Sunday following reports of a stabbing. The 22-year-old victim was transported to hospital by paramedics but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Scotland Yard has confirmed several arrests in connection with the incident:

  1. Two women, both aged 25, and a 28-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.
  2. Two additional women, aged 21 and 22, were later arrested on suspicion of affray. The 21-year-old has been bailed pending further investigation, while the 22-year-old remains in custody.
  3. Both 21-year-old men who suffered stab wounds were also arrested on suspicion of affray. One remains hospitalized while the other has been taken into police custody.

The Valley Retail Park, typically a bustling hub for shopping and dining in Croydon, remains closed as forensic officers continue their examination of the scene. The extended closure has created significant disruption for multiple businesses in the area, with JRC Global Buffet bearing particularly severe financial consequences from the violent incident occurring at their doorstep during what should have been a prosperous celebration period.
