Luxury Glamping Business Earns £500,000 After Dragons' Den

Luxury Glamping Business Sees £500,000 Surge After Dragons' Den Appearance

An award-winning luxury camping enterprise that captivated four investors on Dragons' Den has disclosed how it amassed £500,000 in revenue within a mere 16 days following its BBC show feature. Derry Green's The Secret Garden Glamping company, which appeared on Dragons' Den in January 2024, attracted investment proposals from Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones, Sara Davies, and Touker Suleyman.

All four Dragons presented the full £100,000 asking price in exchange for a 5% equity stake in the upscale glamping startup. Ultimately, Green opted to accept Meaden's offer, marking a pivotal moment for the Lancashire-based business that originated as a lockdown project.

Immediate Impact and Sustained Growth

Reflecting on the show's profound effect, Green told Business Cloud: 'Dragons' Den was a huge moment in our journey, and it's been incredible to witness the business's expansion since the episode aired.' He elaborated: 'Our episode broadcast on January 16, and by February 1, we had generated an additional £500,000 in bookings. The exposure introduced The Secret Garden Glamping to a national audience overnight, with website traffic, enquiries, and bookings all surging dramatically.'

Green emphasized that the impact was not fleeting: 'What's been particularly powerful is that the demand has remained consistently robust over the two years since the show. It significantly accelerated our brand's growth trajectory.' The company, known for its bespoke, high-end units featuring amenities like log-burning hot tubs, outdoor cinemas, private outdoor areas, and luxurious interiors, had already become a viral sensation with a two-year waiting list prior to the show.

Advice for Future Dragons' Den Contestants

Offering guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs, Green advised: 'The Dragons evaluate hundreds of pitches, so they can swiftly detect when a presentation is over-rehearsed. Be clear about the problem your business solves, why you're distinct, and what you're requesting. A concise pitch that explains the opportunity in simple terms is crucial. Investors respect founders who comprehend both the risks and the potential.'

Other Dragons' Den Success Stories

This revelation follows another Dragons' Den venture, Omni, a vet-founded plant-based dog food brand, which secured £75,000 in investment and subsequently achieved £11,000,000 in revenue within a year. Appearing on the BBC show in February 2025, Omni attracted offers from Deborah Meaden and Steven Bartlett. Since then, the company has added over 100,000 new customers, with sales soaring to £8.4 million in 2025, up from £2.7 million in 2024 and £1.2 million the previous year.

These cases underscore the transformative potential of Dragons' Den for startups, demonstrating how strategic investment and national exposure can propel businesses to remarkable financial heights. The show continues to be a catalyst for entrepreneurial success, with episodes available on BBC iPlayer.
