Take-Two CEO Predicts GTA 6 Will Attract Teenagers and Roblox Players
GTA 6 to Draw Teenagers and Roblox Fans, Says Take-Two CEO

In a recent interview, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed concerns about whether the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 will resonate with younger audiences, particularly teenagers and fans of platforms like Roblox. With the gaming landscape evolving significantly since GTA 5's release in 2013, Zelnick remains optimistic about the upcoming title's broad appeal.

Shifting Gaming Habits and Audience Demographics

The video game industry has undergone substantial changes over the past decade, with younger generations increasingly gravitating toward mobile games and persistent online worlds such as Roblox. This shift has raised questions about whether traditional console franchises like Grand Theft Auto can maintain their relevance. GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, marking 13 years since the last main series installment, a period during which the original audience has aged considerably.

Zelnick's Confidence in GTA 6's Universal Appeal

When questioned about potential audience attrition, Zelnick emphasized that Take-Two designs games for diverse demographics. He noted that while some titles, like NBA and WWE games, cater to all ages, others such as GTA are specifically tailored for audiences aged 17 and above. However, he dismissed worries about losing players due to age or prior franchise experience.

'I think we're going to have a lot of 17-year-olds playing GTA 6,' Zelnick stated. 'I don't think there's any risk of like, 'I didn't play five or four or three or two or one, I'm not showing up.' To the contrary, I think we'll be able to engage every appropriate individual in GTA 6.'

He further challenged skeptics, adding, 'And by the way, if you have a console and you're over 17, just explain to me how it is that you've decided, 'no, no, GTA 6? Not interested.' I just don't see it.'

Roblox Players and the Migration to Traditional Games

Zelnick also commented on whether Roblox enthusiasts might transition to more conventional gaming experiences like GTA 6. He offered a measured perspective, acknowledging that while some will make the switch, others may not.

'Some will, some won't,' he replied. 'There's no argument that just because you're a user of Roblox you'll suddenly become a user of something else. I mean, our thesis is not based on that. But I do believe people who are engaged in interactive entertainment as creators are probably more likely to be users, than someone who's not engaged.'

Marketing Strategy and Release Timeline

Despite the evolving market, Zelnick expressed strong confidence in GTA 6's ability to attract both longtime fans and new players. The game's marketing campaign is expected to intensify in the summer of 2026, building anticipation toward the November launch. All current indications suggest that the development is on track to meet its scheduled release date.

Zelnick reiterated that Take-Two's primary focus is on creating exceptional entertainment rather than meticulously calculating target demographics. 'We think in terms of making the greatest entertainment on Earth,' he said. 'And then you know what happens more often than not? Everyone shows up.'

As the gaming community eagerly awaits GTA 6, Zelnick's remarks highlight a strategic optimism that the franchise will continue to thrive, bridging generational gaps and adapting to new player preferences in an increasingly digital era.
