First Equity Announces Liverpool Expansion & Everton FC Share Role
First Equity expands to Liverpool, brokers Everton FC shares

In a significant move for the regional financial sector, the historic London-based stockbroker First Equity has announced plans to establish a fresh presence in Liverpool, marking a strategic expansion into the Northwest of the UK.

Historic Broker Targets Northern Growth

The firm, an independent broking boutique that dates back to 1986 when it began as London's first equity inter-dealer broker, revealed its ambitions at the annual Opus Events "Legends & Laughter" Christmas Lunch. The event was held in aid of The Owen McVeigh Foundation.

Neil Blankstone, the Senior Investment Manager who joined First Equity in April 2025, will spearhead the new Liverpool operation. He praised the city's character, stating it is a "dynamic and vibrant city, one that refuses to buckle even through the hardest of times." Blankstone highlighted the "resilience and the dynamism of its people" as key factors attracting the firm to the region.

Everton FC Share Trading Platform

The expansion news coincided with a major development in the football finance world. It was announced that Asset Match Limited had recommenced auctions for Everton Football Club shares. This provides an official, structured way for shareholders to buy or sell their holdings.

First Equity serves as the recognised broker for these auctions, offering a platform that prioritises both individual investors and institutions. "We're proud to be recognised as broker in Everton FC shares and excited to announce that we are hiring," Blankstone said.

The firm is now actively seeking Investment Managers and Advisors to join its new Northwest team, offering them the "responsibility and flexibility to shape their own and their clients' futures."

A Full-Service Financial Firm

First Equity, which is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), has evolved from its origins into a full-service firm. Its offerings include:

  • Private client services (discretionary, advisory, and execution-only investment management).
  • Corporate broking, where it acts as an advisor to listed companies.

The firm provides investment services to companies listed on the London Stock Exchange, AIM, Aquis Exchange, and JP Jenkins Private Markets. The Liverpool expansion signals a confident step to capture the potential of the Northwest's corporate and investment community.
