EastEnders' Rudolph Walker, 86, Debunks Death Hoax with Social Media Post
EastEnders star Rudolph Walker denies fake death rumours

Beloved EastEnders actor Rudolph Walker has been forced to publicly deny false reports of his death, taking to social media to reassure concerned fans.

A Statement from Albert Square

On December 18, 2025, the veteran star, famed for playing Patrick Trueman, posted a direct message on X (formerly Twitter). He addressed the disturbing rumours head-on, writing: ‘I have become aware that there is fake news being circulated regarding my death. Please be assured that i am alive & well and will be on set at EastEnders first thing tomorrow.’

Walker, who was appointed a CBE for his services to drama, signed off his post with a note of gratitude to his supporters, adding: ‘Thank you for sharing this real news!!’

Patrick Trueman's Turbulent Year in Walford

The actor's on-screen counterpart, Patrick Trueman, has indeed had an eventful 2025 in the BBC One soap. The year saw the joyous return of his wife Yolande, played by Angela Wynter, with the couple reaffirming their vows in a summer wedding.

However, Patrick's life was put in genuine jeopardy in a recent storyline. Teenager Oscar Branning, portrayed by Pierre Counihan-Moullier, broke into the Trueman home to steal Patrick's betting shop winnings. When caught, Oscar pushed the pensioner to the floor in a panic, leaving him seriously injured.

A Pioneering Career and Lasting Legacy

Now 86, Rudolph Walker has been a fixture on British screens for decades, joining the cast of EastEnders in 2001. His career, however, spans far beyond the Square. In a candid interview on This Morning last year, he reflected on the significant challenges he faced as a Black actor in the industry.

‘I never use the word difficult, it is challenging,’ Walker stated. He recalled being told certain roles were not for ‘a Black actor,’ and highlighted how parts were written ‘few and far between,’ often with unnecessary racial signifiers like ‘Black doctor.’

‘That was the challenge we were facing, and many of us fought to have that changed,’ he concluded, acknowledging the progress made while recognising the past struggles.

Committed to fostering future talent, Walker established The Rudolph Walker Foundation in early 2024. The foundation aims to unlock the potential of young people through high-quality performing arts experiences.

For now, fans can rest assured that the iconic actor is very much alive and will continue to bring Patrick Trueman's stories to life on their screens.
