Gladiators Legends Return After More Than 25 Years for Live Experience
Three iconic stars from the original 1990s Gladiators television series are poised to make a spectacular return after more than a quarter of a century away from the spotlight. The legendary sports game show, originally fronted by presenter Ulrika Jonsson, aired from 1992 until 2000 before receiving a successful reboot in 2024 with father-son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh taking over hosting duties.
Live Appearances at Birmingham Event
Now, as the third season of the revived Gladiators series continues to captivate audiences, fans will have the extraordinary opportunity to witness some of the program's most memorable personalities in person. Jet, Lightning, Hunter and Saracen will all appear live at the Gladiators Experience event being held at the NEC in Birmingham. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to meet these legendary figures face-to-face, participate in famous challenges from the show, and enjoy special meet-and-greet sessions along with photo opportunities.
Emotional Reactions from Returning Stars
Saracen expressed profound gratitude about returning to the Gladiators universe, describing it as both an honor and a privilege. He stated: "I never imagined that I would still be a gladiator over 30 years after the original show aired on television. This demonstrates the enduring popularity and cultural influence the program maintains with the public, and it highlights how important health and fitness values have remained throughout the decades. I am extremely proud to have contributed to this legacy. This event represents the next chapter in the Gladiator story, and it will undoubtedly extend into the future."
Hunter echoed these sentiments, calling the invitation to participate absolutely brilliant and noting that Gladiators has been a huge part of his entire adult life since he joined the show at just 19 years old. He reflected: "I was lucky enough to spend many years during my twenties having an incredible time competing on those iconic games. To see that viewers are now getting the chance to step into that world and have a go themselves is genuinely really exciting."
Jet's Enthusiastic Support for New Generation
Jet added her own enthusiastic commentary, declaring: "It gives me 'gladiatorially' great pleasure to be hosting, supporting, and encouraging participants of all abilities in our iconic show. We are proving that you have the speed, the strength, and the heart to become winners." On her podcast GladPod: The Gladiators Podcast, Jet previously praised the lovely camaraderie between Bradley Walsh, aged 65, and his son Barney, aged 28, when the reboot first premiered in 2024.
Comparing Original and Rebooted Series
She also explained how it feels to watch Gladiators now after being part of the original cast decades ago, stating emphatically: "You cannot divorce the Gladiator within." Comparing the lineup she was part of to the new stars taking on challenges like Duel, Gauntlet and The Ring, Jet admitted: "There was a part of me going, don't be as good! Don't be even better please! Everyone had been saying before this production that it would never be as good as the original. It was and then some. And I literally couldn't fault it at all."
Event Details and Lasting Legacy
The Gladiators Experience will be open to the public from May 1 until August 31 at the NEC Birmingham, offering fans a unique interactive opportunity to engage with television history. This comeback underscores the lasting impact of the Gladiators franchise, which continues to inspire new generations while celebrating its nostalgic roots. The return of these iconic figures highlights the show's significant role in promoting physical fitness, competitive spirit, and entertainment across multiple decades.
