ITV presenter Kate Garraway faced a uniquely chaotic start to her week, having to perform an emergency dental repair in the early hours before appearing on Good Morning Britain.
The Pre-Show Dental Drama Unfolds
The 58-year-old broadcaster shared the bizarre story with her followers on Monday, January 14, 2026. The trouble began over the weekend when Kate suffered what she described as an "unfortunate collision with a taxi window," which resulted in her two front tooth caps cracking.
The situation escalated on Monday morning just before she was due to go on air live from the show's new studio in Covent Garden. The damaged caps fell out, prompting a frantic pre-dawn solution. In a behind-the-scenes Instagram video titled ‘BTS at GMB – Horror!’, Kate documented the madness.
An Early Morning Fix with Fixident
The video first showed Kate smiling to reveal her broken teeth, before panning to a close-up of the dislodged cap. It then cut to the key player in this drama: an open tube of Fixident denture adhesive, positioned next to a cup of tea by a computer keyboard. The whole scene was set to the dramatic strains of Vivaldi's Winter.
In her caption, Kate wrote: "All I can say is it’s hard to appear young and cool in front of a whole new team of trendy producers when you are reduced to gluing your teeth on with denture fixative at three in the morning!" The show has recently moved studios and is working with a fresh production team from ITN.
Temporary Teeth and Support from Colleagues
The denture glue was only a stopgap. Kate later managed an emergency trip to the dentist, who fitted her with a temporary set. She humorously referenced her Celebrity Traitors co-star, writing: "they are soooo massive – bless you @alancarr I now know your challenges!!" Alan Carr won the first season of the spin-off show in Autumn 2025, taking home £87,500 for Neuroblastoma UK.
Fellow GMB presenters were quick to react. Susanna Reid commented "Oh my", while Charlotte Hawkins added: "Oh my goodness Kate!! Hope it’s fixed soon." Fans praised her resilience and humour, with one calling her a "resilient soul". This positive public response comes just over two years after Kate lost her husband, Derek Draper, in January 2024 following his long battle with Covid-19.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
