KSI Steps into Permanent Britain's Got Talent Judge Role
Following Bruno Tonioli's departure from Britain's Got Talent, the show has announced musician, YouTuber, and boxer KSI as a new permanent judge. The 32-year-old internet sensation will join returning judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Alesha Dixon for the highly anticipated 19th series of the ITV talent competition.
Who Is KSI?
KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji, is commonly referred to as 'JJ' by friends and fans. He first gained fame in the early 2010s through YouTube, where he created content about video games and FIFA before expanding into comedy sketches. His digital audience grew to become one of the largest in the United Kingdom.
Beyond his online presence, KSI has established himself as a mainstream entertainer by co-founding the collective Sideman and launching the popular energy drink Prime. His transition from internet personality to mainstream celebrity reflects a broader trend of digital stars crossing into traditional entertainment, similar to Angry Ginge on I'm A Celebrity and George Clarke on Strictly Come Dancing.
KSI's Musical Career
KSI began releasing music in 2015 as a side project to his YouTube career. In 2020, he released his debut studio album, Dissimulation, which charted at number two in the UK. He followed this with the album All Over the Place, which included a single that reached number one. Since then, KSI has collaborated with major artists and performed at significant music venues, further solidifying his status in the entertainment industry.
Previous Appearances and New Role
Before being named a permanent judge, KSI had never served as a full-time panelist on Britain's Got Talent. However, he has made guest appearances and participated in special segments on the show. In his new permanent role, KSI aims to establish himself as a long-term judge, bringing his unique perspective and massive online following to the series.
What to Expect from Britain's Got Talent 2026
The inclusion of KSI is expected to give the newest series of Britain's Got Talent a distinct feel, with a likely emphasis on social media engagement as episodes are released. Returning presenters Ant and Dec, who recently stated they had to 'promise' Simon Cowell they would never leave, will continue to host the show.
Numerous acts will compete for a grand prize of £250,000 and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance. The series promises to blend traditional talent competition elements with modern digital influence, making it a must-watch for fans of both mainstream and online entertainment.
Britain's Got Talent begins tonight at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX, marking the start of what could be a transformative season for the long-running show.
