Wednesday evening's television schedule offers a delightful mix of travel escapades, tense drama, and comedic thrills, headlined by a beloved broadcaster's scenic voyage.
Lorraine Kelly Embraces Norwegian Nature
Lorraine Kelly's Norwegian Odyssey begins its three-part journey on Channel 4 at 8pm. The presenter has packed for every eventuality, from bikinis to balaclavas, for a dreamy trip across Norway. Acting as a chirpy travel guide, Kelly will take the helm of a ship in Ålesund, the gateway to the iconic fjords.
Her packed itinerary promises viewers a taste of Scandinavian life, featuring a floating sauna, kayaking down the River Nid, and trying her hand at mussel harvesting. A central theme of the series is exploring the Norwegian concept of friluftsliv, which translates to 'open-air living' and embodies a deep connection with nature.
Drama, Comedy and Daft Shenanigans
Also at 8pm, over on Channel 5, Michael Portillo uncovers Spain's best-kept secret in Spain With Michael Portillo. He tours the beautiful northern enclave of Asturias in a vintage car, on a quest to find a unique fiesta complete with bagpipes and a 'grandad and granny of the year' competition.
The well-regarded Canadian drama Allegiance reaches its first season finale on U&Alibi at 9pm. Rookie cop Sabrina Sohal (Supinder Wraich) faces a tense climax as she races to locate a teenager before he can complete a violent gang initiation, all while dealing with her politician father's treason accusations.
At 9.30pm on BBC One, the second series of the comedy-thriller Black Ops continues. MI5's most bumbling recruits, Dom (Gbemisola Ikumelo) and Kay (Hammed Animashaun), panic after discovering security plans for the Notting Hill Carnival have fallen into the dangerous hands of the shady Steve (Ed Speleers).
Late-Night Laughs and Returns
The supernatural sitcom What We Do in the Shadows continues on BBC Two at 10pm. Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) has a new job in human high finance, with Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Nandor (Kayvan Novak) selfishly willing him to succeed, while Laszlo (Matt Berry) experiments with reanimation in his lab.
Finally, despite a controversial title and mixed reviews, the daft police sitcom Piglets returns for a second series on ITV2 at 10.05pm. Mark Heap and Sarah Parish are back as the incompetent training officers, with new recruit Madelyn Smedley (Maddy from The Traitors) joining the fray.
