Broadcaster Hospitalised After Serious Fall

Television presenter and journalist Piers Morgan is recovering in hospital after a significant fall at a London hotel restaurant. The 60-year-old broadcaster took to social media platform X on Sunday, January 18, to reveal he had suffered a serious injury.

Morgan stated he tripped on a small step, resulting in a fractured femur. The injury was so severe that it necessitated a full hip replacement. He is now in recovery and expects to be on crutches for a period of six weeks.

Morgan's Humorous Swipe at Trump

In a characteristically forthright post, Morgan listed the details of his accident in a series of bullet points. He concluded the list with a tongue-in-cheek political jab, writing: "I blame Donald Trump." This reference to the former US President continues their long-running public friendship and feud.

The incident means Morgan will be unable to undertake any long-haul travel for twelve weeks, putting a damper on his start to the new year, which he described as "off to a cracking start."

From 'PM for PM' to Hospital Patient

The accident comes just months after Morgan publicly floated the idea of entering politics. In an interview with Saga Magazine in October last year, he discussed a potential "PM for PM" campaign—Piers Morgan for Prime Minister.

He cited public feeling of betrayal over issues like the NHS, immigration, and infrastructure. His proposed manifesto included a one per cent income tax dedicated to the NHS and a threat to tax French imports by 1,000 per cent to pressure President Macron on small boat crossings, a tactic he admitted was inspired by Donald Trump's approach.

Morgan's career began in print journalism at The Sun before he became editor of both the News of the World and the Daily Mirror. He successfully transitioned to broadcasting, hosting ITV's Good Morning Britain and Piers Morgan's Life Stories, and served as a judge on Britain's Got Talent.

His current venture, the Uncensored YouTube channel, also airs on TalkTV as a 90-minute highlights package following a partnership deal struck in September last year.
