Last One Laughing UK Fans Reveal Dream Season 3 Cast Ahead of Finale

Last One Laughing's second season has proven to be just as massive a success as its debut on Amazon Prime Video. The current six-part series has challenged a new group of British comedians, along with returning champion Bob Mortimer, to maintain straight faces across six hours while attempting to make their fellow contestants laugh.

As audiences await the season two finale to discover who will follow in Mortimer's prize-winning footsteps from season one, speculation has turned to who might take on the challenge for season three. Amazon has already confirmed that a third season of the locked-room comedy is in development, complete with a Halloween special. Both installments will feature host Jimmy Carr returning to the surveillance state room, accompanied by his deputy Roisin Conaty.

In an official announcement, the streaming service indicated that fans can anticipate more muffled laughter in 2027. So, which comedians should enter the giant funhouse next? We asked Metro readers to fantasy-cast season three of Last One Laughing, and these are the names they enthusiastically shared.

Karl Pilkington

The 53-year-old presenter is primarily recognized for his collaborations with comic legends Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. He is also the star of An Idiot Abroad. In recent years, he has accumulated numerous IMDb credits for comedy-adjacent shows like Rain Dogs and Ludwig.

While some might argue he is not a traditional comedian, Metro reader Warren White believes this would not be a problem. He commented on Facebook: 'Not strictly a comedian but Karl Pilkington would slay.' Pilkington certainly possesses comedic talent through his acting career, similar to season one participant Daisy May Cooper.

Alex Horne

This selection will be an obvious one for any Taskmaster enthusiast. Alex Horne co-hosts the show with Greg Davies, having honed his comedic skills at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. The gag-a-minute Channel 4 program has featured nearly every British comedian through its competitive format.

Many of the Last One Laughing contestants so far have also appeared on Taskmaster. So, why not include the host as well? That is the opinion of Simon Woodley, who wrote that Horne would be guaranteed to deliver 'a brilliant joker' performance on the show. Horne has ample experience, evidenced by his recent 24-hour singathon for Stand Up To Cancer, which descended into chaos when Mr Blobby made a midnight appearance.

Ricky Gervais

If we are truly fantasy-casting season three, why not aim high? Ricky Gervais is one of the most successful and renowned comedians working today, although he does come with a measure of controversy. The 64-year-old can also be somewhat contrarian, so it is uncertain whether he would participate in a mainstream comedy show like Last One Laughing. He typically focuses on his Netflix stand-up specials nowadays.

However, that did not deter Metro reader Dean Pilling from proposing his name, writing on Facebook: 'He'd never do it but Ricky Gervais would be good.'

Bill Bailey

The comedian turned Strictly Come Dancing champion has extensive experience on the comedy panel show circuit, including appearances on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News for You, and QI. The 61-year-old seems like an ideal candidate for a future season, given that Last One Laughing shares panel show DNA. Metro reader Padraig Stapleton stated the comedian would be 'epic' if he participated. With over three decades of stand-up experience, he would undoubtedly have a rich repertoire to draw upon to amuse his competitors.

Sarah Millican

Sarah Millican is another staple of panel shows—from Mock The Week to Would I Lie To You?—since winning Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2008. The 50-year-old comedian is married to fellow stand-up comic Gary Delaney, potentially offering the first couple in the Last One Laughing house if she were to join.

Metro reader Tony Stratton suggested Millican would be a 'great' addition, and we agree, even though her naturally cheerful disposition might challenge her poker face.

Honourable Mention: Sean Lock

This was a poignant suggestion from several Metro readers. The legendary 8 Out of 10 Cats team captain passed away at age 58 in 2021 after a cancer diagnosis. Den Kelly wrote on Facebook: 'Sean Lock would have been absolute gold. May he rest in peace.' Mike Pasmore echoed: 'Would have loved to see Sean Lock on this.'
