Celebrity Traitors' Lucy Beaumont Reveals Her Biggest Show Shock
Lucy Beaumont's Celebrity Traitors Shock Revealed

Comedian Lucy Beaumont has revealed the single most shocking aspect of her time on the hit BBC reality series, Celebrity Traitors, which culminated in a stunning victory for Alan Carr.

The Meet the Richardsons star, 42, was among the 19 famous faces competing in the show's inaugural celebrity season, which aired its finale in November 2025. As a dedicated Faithful, Beaumont successfully avoided murder until a dramatic execution revealed her close friend, Cat, had been a Traitor all along.

The Most Unexpected Dynamic

Speaking to Metro, Beaumont confessed that the overwhelming camaraderie among the cast was her biggest surprise. ‘Everyone was so nice to each other,’ she recalled. ‘I remember thinking: “I wonder whether this isn’t going to be very interesting.”’

She admitted to initial concerns after seeing the leaked line-up, fearing producers would force conflicts. The reality was a relief. ‘You’re just left to play it. No one is intervening,’ she said, adding that the cast ended up as a ‘happy little family.’

This made watching the edited show a strange experience, as she saw viewers discussing ‘tense’ moments that felt entirely different at the time, especially when compared to the more aggressive US version.

Alan Carr's Cunning Victory

Beaumont was completely blindsided by Alan Carr’s win. She never suspected the comedian, partly due to his close friendship with another contestant, Paloma. ‘[I never suspected Alan Carr] simply because of the Paloma murder,’ she explained. ‘You just think he wouldn’t, but it’s a game.’

She praised his ‘plain sight’ strategy, calling him a ‘highly intelligent man’ for evading detection so effectively. His emotional finale, where he confessed his true identity and won £87,500 for Neuroblastoma UK, moved her and the nation.

The children's cancer charity, which Carr supported, funds research into neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that develops from specific nerve cells left behind from a baby's development in the womb.

Life After the Castle

The intense experience gave Beaumont a new appreciation for quiet time. She has now partnered with Virgin Media for their ‘Joy of Missing Out’ campaign, encouraging nights in over nights out. ‘The best evening is just lighting a candle, having a lovely tea and watching TV,’ she reflected.

Looking ahead, the comedian confirmed that while she enjoys TV, her heart remains in live performance after 15 years in comedy. She teased that her Celebrity Traitors adventure will inspire new material for her upcoming shows.

Her podcast, Lucy and Sam’s Perfect Brains, and her BBC appearance have also attracted a new, younger audience, expanding her reach beyond her traditional listeners.

Her greatest hope for 2026 is that a travel show she filmed with her mum gets commissioned, stating she still hasn't met anyone ‘funnier than [her] mum.’

The full season of Celebrity Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
