Peter Andre explains refusal to appear in Katie Price doc

Peter Andre has revealed why he chose not to take part in Katie Price's new documentary, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, which aired on Sky Documentaries on July 8. In a statement shown at the end of the episode, the 53-year-old singer said he opted out 'out of love and respect' for their two children, Junior, 21, and Princess, 19.

Peter's statement on declining participation

The statement read: 'I have chosen not to speak publicly about these matters out of love and respect for Junior and Princess. Today Katie and I maintain an amicable relationship in the interests of our children. I sincerely wish her happiness and peace for the future.'

The documentary, which focuses heavily on the couple's turbulent relationship from their meeting on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2004 to their divorce in 2009, includes candid appearances from their children, who discussed their relationship with their mother.

Katie's emotional reflections

Throughout the episode, Katie, 48, appeared visibly upset while recounting the struggles of her marriage to the Mysterious Girl singer. She admitted that filming had to be paused at times due to her emotional state. Director Paddy Wivell noted that the 'energy drained out of her' when she spoke about Peter.

Katie recalled returning to the jungle in 2009 after their split: 'It was all very confusing, and it brought back memories of me and Pete. From people looking in, we were this perfect couple, but there were things that weren't right as well. It's all about communication, and we didn't communicate. But we could have worked through it, looking back. You can't turn back the clocks now, it's weird.'

Impact on mental health

Katie revealed that not having the opportunity to sit down with Peter since their marriage ended has 'eaten her up'. She said: 'It makes my head go dizzy when I talk about it because it wasn't a good time at all. I was heartbroken. We've never sat down and spoken about it ever. Never. I've never sat down with Pete from the moment we split up. That's what's eaten me up the most because I haven't been able to sit down and talk to him, that's had an impact on me for the rest of what, 20 years, on my mental health, everything. That was… wow. Big impact.'

She also admitted that she has been searching for everything she had in her relationship with Peter in subsequent relationships with Alex Reid, Kieran Hayler, and Carl Woods.
