London is poised to reinforce its status as the world's sporting capital with a spectacular roster of international events scheduled for 2026. The year will see the city welcome back the NBA, host a global cricket final, and stage a historic table tennis championship, alongside its iconic annual fixtures.
A Star-Studded Line-Up for the Capital
Mayor Sadiq Khan has hailed the upcoming schedule, stating it offers "so many exciting events for Londoners and visitors to look forward to." The planned programme builds on a successful 2025, which saw London celebrated as a global hub for women's sport.
The sporting year will kick off with the NBA London Game 2026 at The O2 Arena on January 18, featuring a clash between the Orlando Magic and the Memphis Grizzlies. This single event is projected to generate over £100 million for the UK economy.
Summer will bring a cricketing highlight as Lord's hosts the final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup on July 5, with the semi-finals taking place at The Oval. This adds to an already packed summer of racquet sports, with the prestigious Wimbledon Championships running from June 29 to July 12 and the HSBC Championships at The Queen's Club in June.
