The wedding of Olympic champion Adam Peaty to Holly Ramsay was overshadowed by ongoing family tensions, which have now escalated following a cryptic social media post from his estranged brother.
A Pointed Post From Outside the Venue
James Peaty, who was not invited to the ceremony, shared a now-deleted photo on his Instagram Story the day after the December 27th wedding. The image showed him and his mother, Caroline, standing outside Bath Abbey, the very venue where 30-year-old Adam and 25-year-old Holly exchanged vows.
Alongside the old photo, James wrote "Merry Christmas" in a cursive font. He paired it with a song choice that sparked speculation: a remix of Speak Softly, Love from the 1972 film The Godfather. The film famously chronicles the Corleone crime family, leading to theories that James was comparing the Ramsays to the fictional dynasty, with Adam as the "outsider" marrying in.
The post was live for only 15 minutes before James removed it, and he cleared all other images from his feed at the time.
A Feud That Led to Police Involvement
The rift between the Peaty brothers entered the public domain in late 2025. After returning from his stag do in Budapest—attended by his future father-in-law, Gordon Ramsay—Adam was escorted by police at Manchester Airport due to threats he had received.
James, 34, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of harassment and released on conditional bail. A police statement confirmed the arrest at the time. Sources suggested Adam believes his mother has enabled his brother's actions, creating further distance.
A Wedding Marred by Absences and Heartache
The guest list for the star-studded wedding at Bath Abbey highlighted the deep family divisions. Adam's mother, Caroline, was reportedly banned from attending, though she initially vowed to "watch from the street." She later stood down after her husband, Mark, convinced her it would be too upsetting.
Caroline told the Daily Mail she felt as if Holly and Adam "had cut my heart out." Adam's father, Mark, did attend but was reportedly told to sit at the back "behind the plus ones." The Olympian's aunt, Louise, who was also not invited, sent a harsh text message wishing Adam would never feel the pain he had caused his mother.
In contrast, Adam's sister, Bethany, served as a bridesmaid alongside Holly's sister, Tilly. Gordon Ramsay warmly welcomed Adam into his family, posting on Instagram about gaining "an incredible son in law."
Adam has not publicly addressed the situation with James, citing an ongoing police investigation in a November statement. His relationship with his parents is said to be at an "all-time low."
