In her statement, Debbie revealed that William had been an organ donor. 'Even in our darkest moment, William gave the most precious gift of all,' she explained. 'Through being an organ donor, he has given hope and life to other families, thinking of others right to the very end. His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy.'

William Rush was also an actor, following in his mother's footsteps. He was best known for playing Josh Stevenson in the BBC school drama Waterloo Road between 2009 and 2013. His character was the son of teacher Tom Clarkson, played by Jason Done.
Debbie Rush is famed for her decade-long role as Anna Windass on Coronation Street from 2008 to 2018. Her character was mother to Gary Windass, portrayed by Mikey North. Anna's dramatic storylines included:
