Coronation Street is set for a dramatic Christmas as fan favourite Carla Connor disappears, leaving loved ones fearing the worst in a sinister new mystery.
A Heartbroken Exit Turns Sinister
The turmoil began when Carla, played by Alison King, decided she needed to escape Weatherfield. Her relationship with detective Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) had crumbled under the manipulative return of Lisa's ex-wife, Becky Swain (Amy Cudden). To make matters worse, Carla harboured dark suspicions that Becky was responsible for putting her former boss, the corrupt Detective Inspector Costello (Daon Broni), into a coma.
Her departure for what seemed like a solo holiday to mend her broken heart initially raised few alarms. However, concern soon grows on the cobbles when it becomes clear her trip is not what it seems.
Becky Swain's Web of Deceit
The source of Carla's distress, Becky Swain, has been expertly playing a dangerous game. The ex-undercover cop previously faked her own death to evade Spanish gangsters. Now back in Weatherfield, she has not only silenced Costello but has cunningly reintegrated herself into Lisa's life, directly causing the split with Carla.
Despite being a detective herself, Lisa has remained oblivious to her ex-wife's schemes. Carla's sole ally in unmasking the truth is another police officer, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). Together, they are convinced Becky attacked Costello, but proving it has been impossible, with Becky constantly staying one step ahead.
The investigation's lack of progress drove Carla back to drinking, and a final, rejected attempt at reconciliation with Lisa seemingly destroyed her last hope for a happy Christmas.
A Christmas Day Discovery Sparks Panic
On Christmas Day, as Lisa's daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) enjoys her presents with Becky, the festive mood is shattered. Lisa receives an alarming message from Roy Cropper, revealing that Carla never checked into her hotel in Lanzarote.
This worrying news follows a period of mixed signals from Lisa. After seeing a social media photo of Carla apparently living her best life, Lisa was hurt. Becky seized the moment to make a move, sharing a kiss with Lisa and suggesting they rekindle their old flame. Yet, Lisa's feelings for Carla remained strong, prompting her to send a secret text declaring her love and desire to win Carla back.
Now, with Carla's whereabouts unknown and a proven schemer like Becky in the picture, the residents of Coronation Street are left to fear what sinister fate may have befallen the factory boss. Is this a case of a broken heart needing space, or has Becky's dangerous plotting escalated to something far more terrifying?
