A crew member from the BBC soap EastEnders is showing remarkable progress after surviving a horrific fall from an 11-storey building while in Colombia over the Christmas period.
A Terrifying Accident and a 'Miracle' Survival
Connor, who works as an electrician on the set of the popular BBC One programme, suffered the devastating accident abroad. He fell from the height of an 11-storey building, an incident his mother Denise has since described as a 'miracle' he survived.
The aftermath was severe. Connor spent nine days in a coma and had to undergo multiple life-saving surgeries. His family immediately faced the daunting challenge of covering extensive medical bills in a foreign country.
Road to Recovery and Overwhelming Support
A fundraiser was established on GoFundMe by Victoria to help bring Connor home and pay for his care. The campaign has seen an incredible outpouring of support, with over £30,000 donated towards a current goal of £35,000.
In a positive update shared yesterday, it was revealed that Connor is now out of Intensive Care. He has been weaned off sedation and oxygen, is sitting up in bed, and can eat soft foods.
The update stated: 'He is aware of the GoFundMe and is overwhelmed by everyone’s love and support. He is alert and in good spirits, which is remarkable considering his injuries.' His mother remains by his side in Colombia as he awaits further surgeries for his fractures.
EastEnders Cast Rally Around Their Colleague
The appeal has garnered significant attention from the tight-knit EastEnders cast. Connor's friend and colleague, Jake Wood, who portrays Max Branning, shared the GoFundMe link on his Instagram with a desperate plea for help.
Wood said: 'He is a top man and respected by everyone here who works at the studios. Please help if you can.'
A host of other Walford stars have also shown their support by donating, including:
- Scott Maslen
- Jessie Wallace
- Diane Parish
- Gillian Taylforth
- Emma Barton
- Colin Salmon
- Adam Woodyatt
While Connor's recovery is underway, the focus remains on securing the necessary care and funds to eventually bring him back home to the UK.
