Queen Vic landlady Kat Moon is set for a devastating homecoming in EastEnders next week, walking straight into a family crisis that threatens to tear them apart.
Jessie Wallace's character returns from a trip to Corfu on Monday 19th January, where she had been desperately trying to track down the villainous Chrissie Watts, played by Tracy-Ann Oberman.
A Mother's Desperate Plea
Kat's mission in Greece was driven by her daughter Zoe Slater's imprisonment. Zoe, portrayed by Michelle Ryan, is currently behind bars, accused of murdering Anthony Trueman after his body was discovered in The Vic on Christmas Day.
However, Kat and Zoe's long-lost daughter, Jasmine Fisher, have become convinced the real killer is Chrissie Watts. The veteran villain made a shock reappearance over the festive period, revealing she had been tormenting Zoe for months as revenge for her role in Chrissie's imprisonment for Den Watts's murder back in 2005.
Despite this, Zoe has refused to name Chrissie to the police, fearing the consequences for Jasmine. Kat's return takes a shocking turn when she and Jasmine visit Zoe in prison.
A Guilty Plea That Changes Everything
In a move that horrifies both her mother and her daughter, Zoe reveals she has decided to plead guilty to killing Anthony. She plans to claim she acted in self-defence following an altercation just before his death.
The fiercely protective Kat is adamant they must tell the police about Chrissie's revenge campaign, believing it would dismantle the case against Zoe. But Zoe, showing she is very much her mother's daughter, once again refuses, desperate to keep Jasmine out of Chrissie's warpath.
This leaves Kat with one option: to convince Jasmine herself to come forward. The teenager, played by Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness, appears to agree, telling Kat she will make a statement to the police.
Jasmine's Secret Plot Revealed
Unbeknownst to Kat, Jasmine has no intention of speaking to the authorities. Instead, she is secretly plotting to skip town with her boyfriend, Oscar Branning.
This deception leaves viewers with burning questions: what is Jasmine really planning, and will she truly allow the mother she only recently found to languish in prison for a crime she didn't commit?
EastEnders airs these dramatic scenes from Monday 19th January at 7.30pm on BBC One. Episodes are also available to stream first from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
