Gavin Rossdale's Subtle Swipe at Gwen Stefani Over 'Interesting' Co-Parenting

Gavin Rossdale has taken a subtle dig at his ex-wife Gwen Stefani regarding their co-parenting arrangement, describing it as an "interesting" dynamic that operates like separate lanes on a highway. The former couple, who were married from 2002 to 2016, share three sons: Kingston, 19, Zuma, 17, and Apollo, 12.

Divorce and Co-Parenting Dynamics

Their divorce was contentious after Stefani, 56, accused Rossdale, 60, of extramarital affairs with their nanny. The Bush frontman agreed to an unequal split of assets, and their marriage was officially annulled in 2021. Despite the past turmoil, they now share joint custody of their boys but rarely speak publicly about their former relationship.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Rossdale remarked, "It's a very, it is an interesting kind of... it's a two-lane highway, you know, but they don't ever seem to merge, which is fine." He quickly added that Stefani is "probably doing the best she can" and noted that he is also "doing the best [he] can." Backpedaling further, he continued, "And the kids are growing up, so I'm a proud proponent of the system. It's fine."

Post-Divorce Lives and Parenting Priorities

London-born Rossdale now resides in California, having purchased a 6,855-square-foot Los Angeles home after the divorce. Meanwhile, Stefani and her husband Blake Shelton bought a $14 million Californian mansion in 2020 and also spend time on their Oklahoma ranch.

Speaking about raising their sons, Rossdale revealed his biggest priority is "making them likeable" to avoid raising "jerks." He explained, "I think that if you've got kids that are unlikable, they've got a tough life ahead, you know. Life is hard enough without being a jerk, without being kind of aware of other people, mindful of other people, considerate of other people, empathetic."

Family Background and Personal Beliefs

Rossdale is also the father of model Daisy Lowe, 37, whom he initially served as godfather to until a paternity test in 2004 confirmed she was his biological daughter. He described his approach to life as "steady," reflecting on how things are "very, very hard" for people currently. "I think it just comes down to playing well, being enthusiastic, and having a good energy. And if you bring good energy, there's no reason why people can't respond," he shared.

Controversies and Religious Views

Rossdale's comments come months after Stefani faced controversy for supporting Hallow, an anti-abortion prayer app that costs $69.99 annually or $9.99 monthly. Podcast host Matt Bernstein criticized the app as "religious grifting" and questioned Stefani's involvement, highlighting concerns over bodily autonomy. Stefani, who rediscovered religion after giving birth to Apollo at age 44, did not respond to the backlash and has continued working with the app.

Stefani was raised Catholic and attended church regularly into her 20s before her music career led her to "fall away" from her faith. In contrast, Rossdale clarified in a June interview with Kerrang! that he is an atheist, though he grew up in the church. "I think it's the most beautiful language, and I find myself going back to it again and again, because it suits my temperament," he said. "I'm not sure [there's] much beyond that. I just like how certain things sound."
