GTA 6 Delayed Again: New Release Date Set for November 2026
GTA 6 Release Pushed Back to November 2026

Fans of the blockbuster Grand Theft Auto series face a longer wait than anticipated, as Rockstar Games has announced a further delay for the highly-anticipated sixth instalment.

What is the new Grand Theft Auto 6 release date?

In a surprise move on November 6, 2025, the developer confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will now launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026. This shifts the game's arrival from the previously scheduled spring window to the winter of that year.

This is the second major delay for the title, which was originally slated for a 2025 release before being moved to May 2026. The new date means the game is now over a year away, extending what has already been a long-running saga for eager players.

Rockstar's official apology and explanation

The studio broke the news directly to its community via a social media post. The statement read: "Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

Rockstar went on to thank fans for their continued patience and support, while also offering a tantalising glimpse of what's to come, mentioning "the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City."

A history of Rockstar delays

This is not the first time Rockstar has pushed back a major release. The developer's previous title, Red Dead Redemption 2, was also delayed multiple times, first from its initial 2017 launch date before finally arriving in late 2018.

The latest delay for Grand Theft Auto 6 is a significant blow to the gaming community, as it will have been nearly 13 years since the last main entry in the iconic franchise, Grand Theft Auto V, was released.
