The Real 'Madeline' Breaks Her Silence
Natalie Tippett, the American costume designer who identified herself as the subject of Lily Allen's blistering track 'Madeline', has seemingly mocked the ongoing cheating drama surrounding the singer's divorce from David Harbour. The incident unfolded on November 10, 2025, when Tippett shared a pointed message on her Instagram Stories.
A Birthday Dig on Social Media
While celebrating her birthday, Natalie reposted a message from a friend, Camille Gonzales. The post featured a selfie of the duo with a third friend and contained a telling caption. It read: 'Happy bday mad…I mean natalie!!!!' This was a clear reference to the moniker Lily Allen used in her song to accuse her then-husband of infidelity.
The track 'Madeline' is a central feature on Allen's latest album, 'West End Girl'. In the song, the singer alleges that her ex-husband, David Harbour, was unfaithful with a woman she nicknamed 'Madeline'. The lyrics suggest the couple had an arrangement for an open marriage, but with strict rules.
Lily sings: 'We had an arrangement/ Be discrete and don’t be blatant. There had to be payment/ It had to be with strangers/ But you’re not a stranger, Madeline.' She also expresses deep suspicion, questioning, 'I’m not convinced that he didn’t f**k you in our house.'
The Woman Behind the Moniker Speaks Out
Natalie Tippett came forward as the inspiration for the song after it was reported she met David Harbour while shooting the 2021 Netflix film 'We Have A Ghost'. In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, she confirmed her connection to the track.
When asked if she had heard Lily's new music, she responded with a eye-roll, stating, 'Of course I’ve heard the song.' She expressed concern about the fallout, highlighting her desire to protect her family. 'I have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and I understand this is going on,' Tippett said. 'It’s a little bit scary for me.'
She also acknowledged that she was aware Lily Allen might reference their interactions on her record, sighing, 'Yeah,' when probed about the text messages mentioned in the songs.
This is not the only controversy Stranger Things star David Harbour has faced this year. It was also claimed that his co-star, Millie Bobby Brown, filed a ‘bullying and harassment’ claim against him before filming for the show's final season began. Lily and David, who met on the dating app Raya and married in Las Vegas in 2020, confirmed their divorce in February of this year.
