In an interview with The Times, Compston elaborated, stating, "I'm filming series seven of Line of Duty in the Spring, and before I start a new project I do this thing called the Whole30 organic diet, orchestrated by my wife, who, unlike me, is a phenomenal cook, where you totally cut out sugar."
The couple, married for a decade after meeting in a Los Angeles hotel bar and parents to one son, focuses on nutritious dishes. Compston highlighted a recent lunch prepared by Tianna, consisting of chicken wings, asparagus, cabbage, and miso sauce, designed to ensure he fits comfortably into his character's iconic waistcoat.
Season 7 Cast Additions and Plot Insights
The upcoming seventh series will see the return of principal cast members Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar, alongside newcomer Robert Carlyle, who joins as guest lead Detective Constable Shaun Massie. Carlyle, renowned for roles in Trainspotting and Once Upon a Time, follows previous guest stars like Lennie James and Keeley Hawes, who portrayed corrupt officers investigated by AC-12.
Carlyle expressed enthusiasm about the role, noting, "The scripts for the series are excellent and will absolutely maintain the quality that the audience have come to expect from this fantastic show. DC Massie is an extraordinary character and I look forward to bringing him to life."
Plot details reveal that AC-12 has been disbanded and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards. The narrative commences with the team reuniting to investigate allegations against a Tactical Operations Unit commanding officer accused of sexual predation. This development may connect to the controversial conclusion of Season Six, with speculation that the enigmatic crime boss 'H' storyline could resurface.
Potential Return of the 'H' Mystery and Fan Reactions
An insider source indicated that the series might revisit the 'H' mystery, a plot point that left many fans dissatisfied with its resolution in Season Six, where Ian Buckells was unveiled as 'H'. The source stated, "There was genuine anger about the way series six ended and that was part of the reason that a seventh outing was ordered. But this is the first time that there's been any news on whether they'll bring back the 'H' storyline – and devotees will be thrilled to hear Jed will be giving them just what they want."
Additionally, while a new antagonist is expected to be introduced, as per series tradition, their storyline is anticipated to intertwine with that of 'H', creating a compelling narrative dynamic. Filming for Season Seven is scheduled to commence in Spring 2026, with a release date on BBC iPlayer and BBC One to be announced for the following year.
