Returning to a role you first played as a child is an experience few actors ever have. For Noah Jupe, stepping back into the shoes of Daniel Roper for The Night Manager season two was nothing short of extraordinary, a full decade after the BBC's hit thriller first captivated audiences.
A Full-Circle Moment for a Rising Star
The impact of the first season of The Night Manager in 2016 was profound, making stars of its cast and setting a new bar for television espionage. Among them was a young Noah Jupe, then just 10 years old, who played Daniel, the son of Hugh Laurie's villainous arms dealer Richard Roper.
Now, a decade later, Jupe has reprised the role as an adult, an opportunity he described as a 'pinch-me moment' while speaking to Metro.co.uk at the London premiere in January 2026. Despite not being a fan of multiple seasons typically, he made an exception for the series that 'inspired a lot of his career'.
'Working with the actors I got to work with, doing the scenes I got to do. The whole experience was eye-opening to me,' he shared. 'So to come back, play a character that sort of started it all off for me, 10 years down the line with all the same people, it was amazing... It’s filled with such nostalgia. Really special.'
An Emotional Reunion with Tom Hiddleston
Jupe's return in the new season features a tense reunion with Tom Hiddleston, who reprises his role as Jonathan Pine. Their dynamic has shifted dramatically since season one, where Pine engineered Daniel's kidnapping to infiltrate his father's circle.
The actor found it 'really special' to work with Hiddleston again, noting the Marvel star 'kind of looks the same', while he himself has changed significantly. '[Tom] was like, "Jesus, man. I can tell how long it’s been from how much you’ve grown,"' Jupe recalled.
'Getting to do more mature stuff with him, to be an actor with a lot more experience now and to come in and work with him on a different level, and to develop our characters further in a more mature way – it was really exciting,' he added.
A Blockbuster Year Ahead for the Actor
Following the release of The Night Manager on BBC iPlayer, Noah Jupe faces a remarkably busy 2026. His schedule highlights his ascent to leading man status:
- He stars in the film Hamnet, where he plays Hamlet, a performance already generating serious Oscars buzz for the upcoming awards season.
- He will appear alongside Hugh Jackman in the anticipated film The Death of Robin Hood.
- From March until June 2026, he will tread the boards at London's Harold Pinter Theatre, playing Romeo opposite Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) as Juliet.
Speaking about his stage partnership with Sink, Jupe said: 'We’ve sort of been talking and nervously excited about the big journey that we’re about to go on together. I have massive respect for her, and I think it’s going to be really special.'
The journey from child actor in a defining BBC series to a theatre lead and Oscar contender is a rare path. For Noah Jupe, returning to The Night Manager was a poignant bookmark in a career that is clearly just hitting its stride.
