Patrick J Adams Expresses Willingness to Return to Suits Universe
Actor Patrick J Adams has openly declared his readiness to reprise his iconic role as Mike Ross in the Suits franchise, specifically suggesting a potential spin-off titled Suits: Seattle. This revelation comes as the actor continues to process the astonishing streaming resurgence of the legal drama, which he described as completely unexpected.
The Unprecedented Streaming Phenomenon
Originally airing for nine seasons and 137 episodes, Suits concluded its initial run with Harvey Specter joining Mike Ross at a Seattle-based law firm. However, the show found remarkable new life in 2023 when it debuted on Netflix in the United States. That year alone, viewers streamed the series for an astounding 57.7 billion minutes, with the show maintaining the number one position on Nielsen's streaming chart for twelve consecutive weeks.
'Yeah, it was shocking,' Adams confessed during an interview with Metro. 'I think at the time it was kind of unheard of, right? Shows had had resurgences, but nothing like that. You think a thing's over, and then all of a sudden you're getting stopped in airports again, and you're like, "What is happening?"'
The Enduring Magic of Suits
Despite the show's massive renewed popularity, Adams admitted he cannot pinpoint the exact reason for its second wave of success. 'I think there was something magical about that show,' he explained. 'I don't know what it was. People fell in love with those characters, and it really stood the test of time. I was so proud that it got to have another moment in the sun.'
The actor acknowledged that Suits holds a special place in his career, stating he 'wouldn't be here without it,' though he humorously noted that the experience now feels like a 'fever dream' given how long ago it occurred.
Favorite Moments and Future Possibilities
When asked about his most cherished filming memory, Adams immediately referenced the pilot episode. 'It's hard to beat the pilot episode,' he said. 'The scene where Harvey and I are in the office, where I'm getting the job, because that was what I auditioned with. I see it on social media all the time; it's sort of a fan favourite. That's the scene that changed my life.'
Regarding a potential return to the Suits universe, Adams expressed enthusiasm but noted a significant obstacle. 'I would love to go back to Mike's skinny ties, but I don't think Suits LA is a show anymore,' he stated, referencing Gabriel Macht's recent appearance in that spin-off. He then proposed his own solution: 'It would have to be Suits: Seattle. That's where Mike is.'
Adams' Current Project: The Madison
The 44-year-old actor is currently promoting his new series, The Madison, created by Taylor Sheridan for Paramount Plus. The show features Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell as Stacy and Preston, with Adams portraying their effete and ineffectual son-in-law who is reluctantly relocated from New York City to Montana's Madison River valley following a family tragedy.
Adams explained his eagerness to join the project: 'When you get an audition for a role that says Taylor Sheridan, Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell on it, you jump at that chance.'
While fans may hope for a Suits reunion that includes Rachel Zane, Adams' focus remains on his current role in The Madison, which is now available for streaming on Paramount Plus. The actor's openness to returning to his most famous character suggests that the Suits universe may continue to expand in unexpected ways, building upon its remarkable streaming renaissance.
