EastEnders Star's Hollywood Dreams Dashed by Rude Agent
EastEnders icon Patsy Palmer has broken her silence about the shocking incident that derailed her Hollywood career, revealing how a single confrontation with a powerful agent left her blacklisted in America.
The actress, best known for her legendary portrayal of Bianca Jackson in the BBC One soap, made the life-changing move to Los Angeles back in 2014 with high hopes and ambitions. However, her American dream quickly turned into a professional nightmare.
The Fateful Meeting That Changed Everything
Reflecting on those early months in the United States during an emotional appearance on the Feel It In Your Soul podcast, Patsy recalled: "Lots of things happened when I got there, a series of events. I was supposed to be doing a sitcom – didn't happen – so we stayed. We thought we'll give it a go anyway."
Her first major professional encounter was with what she described as a "big agent" who immediately displayed behaviour straight out of a Hollywood cliché. "Straight away, it turned out that he was like everything that I'd watched in a sitcom of America," she revealed.
The actress, known for her straight-talking nature, explained how the agent's attitude sparked an immediate confrontation. "I can be quite outspoken and people can think that I'm confrontational, but I'm not. It takes a lot for me to say what I think. But this guy – straightaway, I thought he was so rude. Really rude."
"You'll Never Work in This Town Again"
The situation escalated dramatically when Patsy stood up for herself. "He was a typical 'You'll never work in this town again.' Just because I answered him back, like, 'How dare you speak to me like that! Who are you? I've just arrived here.'"
The consequences of this showdown were devastating and far-reaching. In a shocking revelation, Patsy disclosed that her UK agent of ten years subsequently dropped her because of the argument with the American agent.
"My agent at the time didn't really want to represent me anymore because I'd had this argument with this agent there," she confessed. "Their relationships with the US agents were clearly more important than the one I'd had with my agent for ten years."

The experience forced Patsy to confront some hard truths about the entertainment industry. "I realised in this industry no one gives a s*** really about anyone at the end of the day. I started really looking at who am I? It was a lot of revelations I was having about the industry, about my career, about where I stand."
