Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has publicly stepped into a family rift surrounding his daughter's wedding, telling new son-in-law Adam Peaty that his wife Tana is prepared to be a "good mum" to the couple.
Wedding Bliss Overshadowed by Family Drama
The marriage of Holly Ramsay, 25, to Olympic champion Adam Peaty, 30, took place this weekend at the historic Bath Abbey. However, the lead-up to the ceremony was reportedly fraught with tension, overshadowing the celebrations.
It has been widely reported that Adam Peaty's mother, Caroline, was banned from attending her son's wedding. The discord is said to have spilled over from Holly's hen do, which Caroline also did not attend. Furthermore, Holly's childhood friend, Brooklyn Beckham, was also absent from the nuptials.
Ramsay's Speech References Absent Parents
During a speech on the wedding day, Gordon Ramsay, 59, made pointed references to the situation. According to reports from The Sun, the TV chef told the newlyweds that his wife, Tana, "will be a good mum to them both".
He added that Holly looked beautiful and Adam was a lucky man, before referencing his wife again: "Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to." He then appeared to make another dig at Adam's parents, telling his daughter Holly, "Shame you don’t have the same."
On social media, Ramsay struck a more celebratory tone. He shared a heartfelt message on Instagram alongside photos with his daughter, writing: "I’m truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son in law Adam Peaty! I love you so much Holly Ramsay and couldn’t be a prouder Dad xxx."
Mother's Heartbreak and a Devastating Text
The fallout from the wedding has caused significant pain for Adam Peaty's family. His mother, Caroline, told the Daily Mail she was "beside herself" after missing her son's big day.
"I’m not going to be hurt like this again," she said, adding that she felt as if Holly and Adam "have cut my heart out".
The drama extended further, with claims that Adam's aunt, Louise, who was also reportedly not invited, sent the sportsman a devastating text message before the wedding. The message read: "I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame. Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams."
In a notable post-wedding change, Adam Peaty has updated his Instagram handle to Adam Ramsay Peaty, suggesting he has taken his new wife's surname.
