Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo unleashed a blistering verbal assault on US President Donald Trump during the 83rd Golden Globes ceremony, labelling him 'the worst human being in the world' in a politically charged red carpet rant.
A Red Carpet Protest for Renee Nicole Good
The 58-year-old Avengers star, nominated for his role in 'Task', used his platform at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills to protest the death of Renee Nicole Good. The 37-year-old was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026.
Ruffalo, alongside fellow stars Natasha Lyonne and Wanda Sykes, wore a 'Be Good' pin badge in her honour. 'This is for Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered,' Ruffalo told reporters. He directly criticised Vice President JD Vance, accusing him of lying about the circumstances of Good's death. Vance had described the shooting as 'a tragedy of her own making' and praised the officer involved.
Condemning Trump's Leadership and Morality
Ruffalo's criticism swiftly expanded to encompass President Trump's domestic and foreign policy. 'We're in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded,' he stated, accusing Trump of disregarding international law.
He targeted the President's character directly, referencing Trump's 2024 conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. 'The only thing that matters to him is his own morality, but the guy is a convicted felon,' Ruffalo declared. He also alluded to the longstanding sexual assault allegations against Trump, including the case brought by E. Jean Carroll.
Expressing fear for the nation's direction, Ruffalo said his pin was also for 'the people in the United States who are terrorised and scared today. I know I'm one of them.' He concluded his powerful critique by stating, 'If we're relying on this guy's morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we're all in a lot of trouble.'
Ruffalo's History of Political Activism
This is not the first time the Oscar-nominated actor has voiced strong political opinions. He has a long history of supporting Democratic causes and candidates:
- Endorsed Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Kamala Harris in previous elections.
- Publicly backed Jeremy Corbyn's runs for UK Prime Minister in 2017 and 2019.
- Been a vocal advocate for pro-choice policies, LGBTQ+ rights, and anti-capitalist viewpoints.
His latest comments were met with significant praise on social media, with fans hailing him for being 'on the right side of history.' Despite losing the Best Actor award to Noah Wyle, Ruffalo's political statement became one of the most talked-about moments of the 2026 Golden Globes night.
