In a startling revelation from the world of reality television, former Sister Wives star Christine Brown has confirmed she is biologically related to her ex-husband, Kody Brown.
A Distant Family Connection
The disclosure was made during a new episode of the TLC series, which aired on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Christine explained to her current husband, David Woolley, and viewers that she had always known about the connection. "I knew growing up that I would have to marry a convert because I was literally related to everybody in the church," she stated.
Christine, who was spiritually married to Kody as his third wife from 1994 until 2021, clarified the nature of their kinship. She noted that while she did marry a convert to their faith, Kody, she was "still related to him too." The pair share six children: Aspyn, Mykelti, Gwendlyn, Ysabel, Truely, and Paedon.

David Woolley's immediate reaction was one of discomfort, replying, "That's not cool." However, Christine was quick to point out the legal and social distance, asserting, "Third cousins once removed is fully legal. Fully."
This sentiment was echoed by another of Kody's former wives, Janelle Brown. She recalled that everyone used to joke about Christine and Kody being cousins, emphasising the distant nature of the relationship. "I think in polygamist families, this kind of stuff happens all the time," Janelle said. "It wasn't the kind of relationship where you saw each other at the family reunion – it was a very distant relationship. But they would always joke about being cousins. It just is a small community."
Life After the Polygamist Marriage
Christine and Kody announced their separation in November 2021, after more than 25 years together. In statements at the time, both committed to co-parenting their children amicably.
Since leaving the plural marriage, Christine's life has taken a monogamous turn. She met David Woolley on a dating app and married him in 2023. She has since expressed profound happiness with her new life, famously stating, "I absolutely love monogamy – I was made for it."
