London's Honest Burger Crowned UK's Best at National Awards Ceremony
The UK's best burger has been officially named, and it can only be found at one specific location in London. The Honest, created by Honest Burgers, has taken the top prize at the National Burger Awards, beating out fifteen other finalists from across the country.
Exclusive London Offering Wins Top Honor
The winning burger, The Honest, is a smashed version of the original Honest burger and is exclusively available at Honest Burger's Smash + Grab site in Liverpool Street. This unique offering features dry-aged Honest Butchery beef, thick-cut Wiltshire bacon, homemade beef and onion relish, XL cheese, Honest pickles, and diced onion. While the original Honest burger is available at all 45 branches of Honest Burgers nationwide, this award-winning iteration is a London-only specialty.
First-Time Competitors Take Home Trophy
"It's an amazing accolade," said Adam Layton, head of food at Honest Burgers. "We've never competed at the National Burger Awards before, so coming in first time and taking the trophy means a lot to us. All credit to Tom. The original recipe was all him."
Layton explained that the winning burger represents an evolution of their original creation: "It's a good time for us. The burger we won with is an evolution of the original Honest, so we just upped every ingredient and the results are obvious." The burger was created by Honest Burgers' co-founder, Tom Barton, who received the National Burger of the Year award for his creation.
Competition Highlights London's Burger Dominance
The National Burger Awards saw strong representation from London establishments, with second place going to London's Burger & Beyond. Other London finalists included:
- Bleecker's Bacon Double
- Fat Hippo's The Louvre Loot
- SoBe Burger's Double Bacon Black Garlic
Third place was awarded to Newcastle's Meat Stack, demonstrating that while London dominated the competition, quality burgers can be found throughout the UK.
