Islington's Quince Bakery Plans New All-Day Café Clementine
Quince Bakery Owner Plans New Café Clementine in Islington

Islington's beloved Quince Bakery is expanding. Owner and head baker Anna Higham has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £50,000 for a new all-day café named Clementine, set to open directly across the street from the original bakery on New North Road.

From Bakery to Café

Since opening in early 2024, Quince Bakery has become a local favorite, winning a Muddy Stilettos award for best local food/drink producer and earning a spot on La Liste's best bakeries in London. Its bread also supplies Oula, named the best coffee shop in London. Now, Higham aims to replicate that success with Clementine, a café serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch. The menu will feature tattie scones, pies, buns, scones with jam and cream, porridge, soup, and toasties.

Crowdfunding Rewards

To fund the fit-out and equipment, Higham has launched a crowdfunder offering perks: a £15 donation gets a scone with Ivy House cream and Quince jam; £30 secures a breakfast bundle of tattie scones, Cacklebean eggs, and Red Bank coffee; £250 provides bread for a year; and £10,000 includes the Quince and Clementine team catering your wedding. As of writing, over £7,000 has been raised, with supporters calling it the 'easiest crowdfund ever' and praising Quince as the 'best bakery in London.'
