An independent bookshop in east London has achieved global acclaim, securing a prestigious spot on a list of the world's finest literary havens.

Donlon Books, located on Broadway Market in London Fields, has been named one of the 11 greatest independent bookshops on the planet by Cultured magazine. The distinctive list, published in December 2025, was curated by a panel of experts with impeccable credentials: bookshop owners themselves. The east London store finds itself in esteemed company alongside renowned shops in cities like Baghdad, Paris, and New York.

Founded in 2008, Donlon Books has built a formidable reputation for its meticulously curated and idiosyncratic selection. It specialises in rare and hard-to-find titles spanning art, photography, music, fashion, and counterculture.
