London's Fearsome T-Rex Gets a Festive Makeover
London is transforming into a winter wonderland ahead of the 2025 festive season, and the city's iconic Natural History Museum is joining the celebrations in spectacular fashion. The museum's famous animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex has received a Christmas transformation, sporting a brand new, eye-catching Christmas jumper as part of its annual winter display.
A Roaring Christmas Tradition
This marks the fourth consecutive year that the museum's towering dinosaur has been dressed in festive attire, with the popular tradition beginning back in 2021. Dubbed 'Santa Jaws', the fearsome predator now stands proudly in the museum wearing both his colourful jumper and a Santa hat, creating an unforgettable seasonal spectacle.
The Christmas scene surrounding the T-Rex is described as less heartwarming and more reminiscent of a horror movie, depicting the giant dinosaur terrorising a miniature town set against a backdrop of snowy mountains, trees, and houses.
Jumper Design and Festive Merchandise
The 2025 Christmas jumper features a distinctive design showcasing some of the museum's most significant prehistoric specimens, including a detailed T-Rex skull and ammonite fossil. The back of the jumper displays an illustration of the museum's iconic South Kensington building.
Coinciding with the T-Rex display unveiling, the museum has launched its festive merchandise collection. Visitors can now purchase their own Christmas jumpers, socks, and scarves featuring this year's exclusive design. For the first time in the museum's history, the NHM has also created a special Christmas jumper for dogs.
The entire collection has been developed in partnership with NOTJUST, a UK-based social enterprise, and is made from 100 percent organic cotton. All profits from merchandise sales will support the museum's charitable mission, including the vital work of its 400 scientists who are conducting research and developing solutions to address the planetary emergency.
London's festive season continues to build momentum, with Covent Garden's Christmas lights scheduled to be switched on next week, and Winter Wonderland returning to Hyde Park.
