Netflix's controversial comedy series Bad Thoughts, created by and starring comedian Tom Segura, has returned for a second season, once again dividing audiences with its darkly humorous and provocative content. The show, which drew comparisons to Little Britain upon its debut, continues to push boundaries with its twisted vignettes.
What to Expect in Season 2
The new season features six 20-minute episodes that explore equally unsettling themes. Among the storylines are a new wonder drug that sends one man off the rails, a body swap that puts a father in a difficult situation, and a believer's trip to heaven that does not go as she prayed for.
The first season included a memorable episode where Segura plays fading country music star Rex Henley, who kidnaps his fans and forces them to reveal their darkest traumas to inspire his songs.
Star-Studded Cast
Bad Thoughts features an ensemble cast including Daniella Pineda (Jurassic Park), Robert Iler (The Sopranos), and Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire). The show also had notable near-misses in casting: Jason Momoa initially agreed to play a 'sexy dream guy' but later backed out via FaceTime from a bathtub. Bryan Cranston also expressed interest but ultimately the role did not work out.
Divided Fan Reactions
Reactions to the series remain sharply polarized. Some viewers praise its unhinged creativity, while others find it offensive and unfunny. One X user, Vaughan, called it a 'complete disaster,' while another, Viper-62, declared it deserved 'every award out there.'
Critics on social media have been vocal. @AgentJohnJD wrote: 'Bad Thoughts is a show on Netflix that if I were to describe it, there would be an immediate censorship across the board. I turned it off after the first episode.' @ldsgolfer13 commented: 'The new Tom Segura show on Netflix, Bad Thoughts, is just gross and unfunny.'
Conversely, fans have embraced the show. @Fanb0yNate raved: 'Tom [is] unhinged in Bad Thoughts... this is why he's one of my favourite comedians.' @GKline17 added: 'I don't know how Bad Thoughts was ever greenlit, because it's pretty insane, but well done seeing the genius inside the madness.'
Even Tom Segura's Mom Disapproves
In a surprising twist, Segura revealed that his own mother was horrified by the show. He told Variety that after watching a few episodes in a private screening room with hidden cameras, she told him: 'Give the money back. You can't air this. I'll never see my friends again.'
Despite the controversy, Bad Thoughts continues to attract attention and spark debate. All episodes are available to stream on Netflix.
