Dear England: A Story of Hope and Football
Casting Joseph Fiennes as Gareth Southgate in James Graham's play was a masterstroke, and he reprises the role for television. The story follows Southgate in post-Brexit Britain as he takes charge of the England squad, aiming to restore hope and lead the team into a new era. "We are probably not going to win the World Cup," he tells the bewildered players. "The good news is, nobody expects us to." When he brings sports psychologist Pippa Grange, played by Jodie Whittaker, on board, conversations about men's mental health begin to open, and penalties start being scored. Based on real interviews, the result is a thoughtful, all-encompassing take on the real people behind the beautiful game.
Vengeance: Murder on the Heath
Channel 4 presents a harrowing two-part drama at 9pm, based on real events. It unravels the tragic love triangle between medical student Mundill Mahil, her "gangster friend" Ravi Shoker, and TV executive Gagandip Singh, who was accused of sexually assaulting Mahil. The story explores how their feud escalated into brutal violence and ultimately murder.
The 1% Club Kids Special
ITV1 airs a special edition at 8pm, featuring 100 children aged 9 to 15 competing to prove their intelligence. The winner earns a trip to Disneyland in Florida. Among the contestants is Henry, who claims he's "not very clever" but does an impressive impression of his Welsh teacher.
Cruising to the Ends of the Earth
Channel 4 at 8pm follows excitable Gen Z staff members as they explore Tokyo for the first time. The Diamond Princess docks at Yokohama port, and dancers Talisha and Josh head to Shibuya Crossing. Meanwhile, in Alaska, the Royal Princess is in Juneau, where the head chef searches for fresh Alaskan salmon to prepare on board.
Death Valley
BBC One at 8.15pm presents a mystery drama. When a social media-famous chef is found dead in his burned-down seafood shack, suspicion falls on a jealous pub owner. Retired TV star John, played by Timothy Spall, arrives in the coastal town wallowing in self-pity after his breakup with Yvonne (Melanie Walters). Together with detective Janie (Gwyneth Keyworth), he attempts to solve the murder.

BBC Two at 10pm features Grammy-winning James Blake performing tracks from his seventh studio album, Trying Times. The show includes a tribute to BB King from New York blues-rocker Joe Bonamassa, plus performances from Sekou, Ashley McBryde, Jocelyn Brown, and French/English band Mandy, Indiana.
