Love Island 2026 contestant Mica Harris has a remarkable family background that includes her aunt being the Prime Minister of Barbados and a relative from the classic British sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
Family Ties to Politics and Television
Mica Harris, 21, originally from Barbados but now living in London, comes from a family deeply involved in politics. Her aunt is Mia Mottley, the Prime Minister of Barbados. Mica's grandfather and great-grandfather also served as prominent politicians on the Caribbean island.
Mica has shared numerous photos of her family in Barbados, including a post celebrating her aunt's electoral victory when her party secured all 30 seats in parliament. She wrote, "Unbelievably proud," alongside the post marking the triumph.
On the entertainment side, Mica's mother and aunt are cousins with the late actress Eva Mottley, best known for playing Corinne, Denzil's wife, in Only Fools and Horses. This makes the late star Mica's first cousin once removed, though they never met, as Eva died by suicide in 1985 at age 31.
Eva Mottley's Acting Career
Eva Mottley's character Corinne first appeared in the episode "Who's a Pretty Boy?" where Denzil hires Del Boy, Rodney, and Grandad to decorate his flat. Corinne was less than thrilled with the Trotters' arrival, remarking about Del: "What the hell is he doing in my home." In the episode, Del mistakenly swaps Corinne's deceased canary with a new one from a pet shop, believing paint fumes caused the bird's death.
Beyond Only Fools and Horses, Eva Mottley was recognized for her role as Bella O'Reilly in the 1983 TV drama Widows and appeared in Bergerac and the film Superman III. During her short career, she was also rumored to have dated David Bowie for two years.
What Mica Is Looking For in the Villa
Before entering the Love Island villa, Mica described her ideal partner: "Definitely someone that's tall, I'm tall myself so I like to feel small. I like a little bit of a buffer, a bigger guy. The most important thing for me is personality. I just want someone that will make me laugh. I want to get along with someone."
She also made clear what she does not want: "I do not want a really egotistical, cringy man. That's not my vibe at all. I can't have someone who's more into themselves than they are me. They need to be obsessed with me."
Discussing her current dating life, Mica revealed: "Honestly, it's been quiet but it's been peaceful. I've been trying to focus on myself and protect my peace. But as a strict programme for 2026, I'm not taking the b******t I used to."
The 2026 Line-Up
The 2026 line-up for Love Island was officially unveiled this week, featuring a diverse group of contestants including a detective, an electrician, a nurse, a quantity surveyor and DJ, a businessman, a school teacher, a real estate videographer, and a model.
With just days to go until the new series kicks off, a fresh batch of singletons will head to the Majorcan villa in search of their perfect match this summer. ITV is going all out to make this year's show one to remember.
Love Island Series 13 begins at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX on June 1.
