London's stargazers are in for a treat as a brand-new, high-tech planetarium prepares to launch in the capital. From 30 January 2026, the immersive Planetarium Go UK experience will open its doors inside the iconic Battersea Power Station, offering a temporary but spectacular window to the cosmos.
A New Home for the Stars
This marks a significant addition to London's scientific landscape. Since the closure of the London Planetarium in Marylebone in 2010, the city has been left with only one permanent planetarium at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. The arrival of Planetarium Go UK, a pop-up venture originating from Spain, will provide a fresh and accessible way for the public to engage with astronomy.
The experience will be housed within a swanky 360-degree dome in Power Station Park, featuring high-resolution projections on a premium structure. Organisers promise a cutting-edge programme that uses state-of-the-art technology to explore galaxies, planets, and other cosmic phenomena through a series of captivating 20 to 30-minute films.
Inspiring the Next Generation
More than just a show, Planetarium Go UK has a clear educational mission. Aiming to make science accessible to all, the experience is designed to be family-friendly and focuses on STEM inspiration, sustainability, and scientific outreach.
José Jiménez, chief executive of Planetarium Go UK and AstroÁndalus, stated: "Our purpose is to bring science to more places and offer immersive experiences that spark curiosity and inspire STEM pathways from an early age. We work with communities, schools and local organisations to make science accessible to everyone."
Plan Your Visit
The planetarium will operate for a limited time only, from 30 January 2026 until 1 March 2026. Tickets are now available for booking online, with prices starting from £15. This unique pop-up offers a rare chance to journey through the universe without leaving central London, filling a gap for a mobile planetarium in the city.
