Guardian Readers' Best Photographs: A Global Snapshot from London to Iraq
Global Showcase: Readers' Best Photographs Revealed

The Guardian has unveiled another captivating collection of images submitted by its readers from across the globe. The series offers a unique, personal perspective on the world, capturing moments of urban splendour, natural beauty, and cultural vibrancy.

A World in Focus: From British Landscapes to Iraqi History

The selection truly spans continents. In the UK, Isabelle Desgranges captured the iconic dome of St Paul’s Cathedral presiding over the hustle of pedestrians on London's Millennium Bridge. Meanwhile, in Oxfordshire, Tamara Lucatz photographed a tender moment between a mother deer and her son visiting her garden.

Further afield, the gallery transports viewers to Samarra, Iraq, where Alex Brown took advantage of the country reopening for tourism. His image highlights the opportunity to have historic sites virtually to oneself, albeit against official Foreign Office advice. In Cairo, Egypt, Robert Boon turned his lens to the traditional booksellers lining the banks of the River Nile.

Wildlife, Culture, and Urban Life

The natural world features prominently. Rohan Armon Davies snapped Pacific swallows at play in the harsh morning sun of Singapore's Hampstead Wetlands Park. In the US, R Keller photographed a bald eagle by the Iowa River carrying a late-afternoon snack.

Urban culture and art are also celebrated. A vibrant, Liverpool-themed matatu (minibus) navigates the streets of Nairobi in a shot by Susan Green, blending football fandom with dynamic street art. Back in London, Sebastian Kettley found a moment of quiet connection between two revellers amidst the chaotic, festive pub crawl of the Santacon parade.

The collection also includes striking landscapes, such as the silvery rock formations on the winter coast of Zennor, Cornwall, photographed by Mark Hicks, and an intriguing reflection captured in West Bengal, India, by Dibakar Roy.

Exhibitions and Seasonal Moments

Cultural pursuits are documented too. John Harvey visited the Howard Hodgkin retrospective, In a Public Garden, at Pitzhanger Manor in Ealing, London, which runs until 8 March 2026. Seasonal beauty is found in an Essex garden centre, where Colin Page photographed a robin, and in Edinburgh, where Susan Tomes captured the unusual sight of frost on a rose.

This diverse gallery, published on Tuesday 16 December 2025, continues the newspaper's tradition of showcasing the observational talent of its readership, reminding us that compelling photography exists far beyond the professional sphere.
