Teen Stabbed at School, Boy Arrested in Norfolk Incident

A teenage girl was stabbed at Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich on Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Norfolk Police confirmed that officers were called to the school on Laundry Lane at 10.24am following reports of the stabbing incident.

Emergency Response and School Lockdown

Emergency services, including fire and ambulance crews, swiftly arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance. The victim was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, while the suspect was taken to Wymondham police investigation centre for questioning. According to reports from the Eastern Daily Press, armed police officers were also present at the school, which was placed in lockdown conditions during the incident.

School Environment and Community Reaction

During the lockdown, pupils were reported to be hiding beneath their desks, and some had their phones confiscated as a precautionary measure. Norwich North MP Alice Macdonald expressed deep concern on social media, stating, "Reports from Thorpe St Andrew School are incredibly serious and deeply alarming." She emphasized the need to allow police time to ensure everyone's safety and extended her thoughts to the victim and their family.

Thorpe St Andrew School, an 11 to 18 mixed secondary school with a sixth form, was rated "Good" in its 2025 Ofsted inspection. Police have indicated that this incident is not believed to be linked to a hate crime reported at the same school last week, which involved allegations of antisemitic chanting during a football match with a Jewish school.
