Christmas Bin Collection Changes in Hammersmith & Fulham: Dates and Tree Recycling
H&F Festive Bin Dates & Tree Recycling Guide

Residents across Hammersmith and Fulham are being advised of important changes to their rubbish and recycling services over the festive period. The West London council has confirmed it will operate a revised collection schedule, with several key dates affected before services return to normal in early January.

Revised Festive Bin Collection Schedule

The council has published a full list of amended collection days for the Christmas and New Year period. Collections will be pushed back on three key bank holidays, with all services expected to be running as usual again from Monday, January 5.

The specific changes are as follows:

  • Wednesday, December 25 (Christmas Day): Collections moved to Friday, December 27.
  • Thursday, December 26 (Boxing Day): Collections moved to Saturday, December 28.
  • Wednesday, January 1 (New Year's Day): Collections moved to Thursday, January 2.
  • Thursday, January 2: Collections moved to Friday, January 3.

All other dates from December 22 through to January 3 will see normal collections proceed. Residents are urged to present their bins at the kerbside by 7am on their revised collection day.

Christmas Tree Recycling Service

For households with an on-street rubbish collection, the council is once again running its popular Christmas tree recycling scheme. The service for real trees will operate from Monday, January 5 until Thursday, January 23.

To ensure your tree is collected, you must follow a few simple rules. The tree must be a real one, with all decorations, tinsel, and pots completely removed. It should be placed visibly at your usual collection point without blocking the pavement, and it must be put out before 7am on your normal collection day.

Garden Waste Pause and Drop-Off Points

Meanwhile, the borough's garden waste collection service will be temporarily suspended. There will be no brown bin collections from Tuesday, December 24 until Wednesday, January 15.

For residents who do not have an on-street collection, such as those living in flats, the council has designated several parks and open spaces where you can take your real Christmas tree for recycling. The drop-off locations are:

  • Bishops Park, next to the café
  • Cathnor Park, by the play area
  • Fulham Palace Road Cemetery
  • Loris Road Community Gardens
  • New Kings Road, by Eelbrook Common
  • Normand Park
  • Ravenscourt Park, by the football pitch
  • South Park
  • Wormholt Park
  • Wormwood Scrubs car park

The council encourages all residents to check its official website for more detailed information on what can and cannot be recycled, ensuring the borough's waste is managed efficiently during the busy festive season.
