New £18 Sleeper Train Connects Paris, Brussels, and Berlin for Budget Travel

For many travelers, sleeper trains represent the ultimate way to journey across Europe. You simply close your eyes, drift off to sleep, and awaken in an entirely new country. Now, there is exciting news for those eager to explore the continent in this manner, as a new rail route linking some of Europe's most popular destinations has been unveiled.

European Sleeper, a company known for its accessible night train services, has introduced a fresh journey that connects Paris, Brussels, and Berlin. Starting from the French capital, this new route makes it significantly easier for British travelers to join the adventure. Just take a two-hour Eurostar train to Paris, and soon you will have the rest of Europe at your fingertips. The best part? Tickets begin from as little as £18.

Expansion of European Sleeper's Network

Until recently, European Sleeper operated only one night service, running between Brussels and Prague with stops in Amsterdam and Berlin. However, increasing demand has driven the company to broaden its network. The new Paris–Berlin service will run three times per week, raising the total to six departures weekly in each direction between Brussels and Berlin.

Chris Engelsman, co-founder of European Sleeper, commented on the resurgence of night trains in Europe: 'Building a network doesn't happen overnight. But step by step, we are proving that night train connections between major cities can work, for travelers and as a sustainable business.'

Ticket Classes and Pricing Details

European Sleeper offers four classes of tickets, utilizing a dynamic pricing system where costs vary based on route and travel timing. For example, a trip from Paris to Berlin in May includes the following options:

  • Budget: The most affordable choice, featuring seats in six-person compartments or open-plan areas. A single trip from Paris to Berlin costs approximately €69.99 (£60.97). For shorter journeys, such as Paris to Brussels, prices can drop to €19.99 (£17.42) for non-flexible, non-refundable tickets.
  • Classic: This class provides four, five, or six-person compartments in classic carriages with seats by day and couchettes at night. Available for private groups, including mixed-gender and Women-Only options, one-way tickets from Paris to Berlin are priced at €119.99 (£103), with potential discounts in less busy seasons.
  • Comfort Standard: Designed for a better night's sleep, this class offers three-person compartments with compact beds, comfortable mattresses, and breakfast and drink options. A single ticket from Paris to Berlin in May costs €129.99 (£112).
  • Comfort Plus: The most luxurious option, featuring spacious three-bed compartments with private wash basins, a welcome drink, and breakfast included. A journey on this route is priced at €179.99 (£155).

Future Developments and Industry Trends

In addition to this new route, European Sleeper has announced plans to launch a third service from Brussels to Milan via Cologne and Zurich, starting in September this year. This expansion reflects a broader trend in European travel, with companies like Nox, a Berlin-based startup, aiming to connect over 100 European cities by 2035 with sleeper trains offering private cabins.

This initiative highlights the growing appeal of sustainable and convenient night train travel, providing an eco-friendly alternative to flights and making European exploration more accessible than ever.
