Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) has stunned Emmerdale viewers by claiming that newcomer Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) is actually a prison officer. The revelation came during tonight's episode of the ITV soap, as Kev shared his suspicions with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) before confronting Serena directly.
Kev's Suspicion Grows
Serena, a distant cousin of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), arrived in the village a few days ago. Before her arrival, she encountered Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) by a lake, who was struggling with secrets about Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) and baby Leyla. Serena helped Charity see that reporting Caitlin's blackmail was the right choice.
Since then, Serena has reconnected with Robert and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and has been getting to know other residents. However, she seemed uneasy when Kev commented outside the pub that he thought he knew her from somewhere. Serena denied it and hurried inside.
Kev's Accusation
In tonight's episode, Kev was speaking to Mackenzie at the pub, sharing wisdom after learning Charity had cheated on him. When Mack went to the loo, Kev told Serena he had figured out where he knows her from. He believes she is a "screw," a slang term for a prison officer.
Serena denied the claim but asked Kev to drop the conversation. According to a source, "Kev's accusation has left Serena visibly rattled, but she's sticking to her story."
Is Kev Telling the Truth?
Kev has a history of lying—when he first arrived, he told a massive lie to Robert about his health. This raises doubts about his motives. However, if Serena is indeed a prison officer, it could explain her mysterious past and reluctance to engage with Kev.
Emmerdale fans have taken to social media to speculate, with some believing Kev is right and others suspecting he is hiding something. The soap has not yet confirmed Serena's true identity, but the twist has added intrigue to her character.
